The immature, still green fruits of the olive tree are called olives: they are pickled in various ways - in oil, in vinegar and in salt, with or without a stone, stuffed with pieces of sardines, tuna, anchovies, almonds, sweet peppers or lemon. In cooking, olives exist exclusively in canned form - and due to their piquant taste, they are perceived as a gourmet snack.
